Pakistan secured second position in the Nation's Regional Challenge - South Asian category, in the first leg of 'Greatest Race on Earth' held in Nairobi. Pakistan's Muhammad Aslam an army personnel finished the race in a time of 02:44:48.

Samson Barmao won the 2005 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, the first leg of the 'Greatest Race on Earth', with time of 02:12:14. This takes Barmao's team, Global Sports Communications, into the lead of the 'Greatest Race on Earth' main team challenge.

Like last year Standard Chartered Bank sponsored athletes from Pakistan Athletics Federation to participate in the 'Greatest Race on Earth'. The Greatest Race on Earth is a unique relay race for teams and individuals with the stamina and courage to take on four sponsored marathons sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank.

It is the first team event of its kind in marathon running. A super relay race for teams of 4 runners across four marathons in Nairobi, Singapore, Mumbai and Hong Kong, each team member will run in one marathon, competing for the best aggregate time. All proceeds collected through the registration of Greatest Race on Earth will be donated towards noble cause of 'Seeing is Believing'. -PR
